Hi! First of all, I would like to say that this is a nice site. Active and such.

I'm thinking of purchasing a NX 1600, and I've seen that people suggest swapping the engine for a SR20DE engine. Since the stock engine is weak... I want something more powerful and enjoyable, and I've read a little about other kinds of engines like the GTiR and SR20VE.... If someone can enlighten me on engine swaps, that would be amazing! Also, what kind of transmission to go with the engine... I ask this because I know with Hondas and other makes, people do like.. Acura GSR with Type R transmission ect.

Also, which is most easiest and trouble-less engines to swap with? Preferably something that drops right in. If anyone has any other kind of additional information, that would be amazing!

Thanks!

If you want a sr20 equipped vehicle, then buy one with the sr20 in it already. Less headache & money in the long run. You can read through the stickies about the sr20 engines.

+1 on that.

if you swap it into another non-sr20 car, youre gonna need a LOT of other sr20 parts like axles, harnesses, radiators, (etc.)
the nx2000 comes with an sr20.. but only makes about 140 or so HP.
i would suggest the sr20ve 100%. the 1st gen makes about 190HP N/A, and the 2nd gen about 210.
the 2nd gen would be a slightly harder swap though, but once done you can also use its 6speed trans :)
im currently doing this swap on my 96 200sx SE.
Ive even heard of some guys making almost 300 N/A HP on their VE's.
also, the VE is VERY rev-happy, even moreso than a Honda :chuckle: with some head mods, you can easily rev it up to 9 or even 9500 revs.

just my 2cents:)
