92 Nissan 240sx steering rack and pinion HELP!

Okay,

My car when sitting still and turning the wheels it makes this really loud noise and the auto shop said it was the steering rack and pinion.

How much does it cost to replace this? Should I get OEM product or the remanufacturing product? I got quoted $573.37 for the total job with parts and labor.

I can't afford this so I plan on doing this myself. Any help? Thanks!

the reman parts seem to be doing ok from what I've seen. I'd still trust OEM more but we're all broke I understand. So here's the question, when you got quoted that price, how much was labor? I'm guessing the part was about 100 bucks. You can indeed do this yourself, do a search on this. Many members have replaced their racks, and I've done a rebuild on my rack a few years ago with OEM parts without any problems.
