What exactly is leaking... the ABS unit?

I personally wouldn't recommend getting rid of the ABS but if you absolutely wanted to... you would need the lines and master cylinder from a non-ABS Maxima at the very least. There are also some valves in the back, on the suspension, that I believe are on the ABS models that might need bypassed... but I can't remember for sure on those.

I really dont suggest switching to regular brakes my abs brakes on my maxima have saved me so many times. If its leaking just find it and fix it youll be glad you did later.

replace the leaking part. it will be cheaper now, and save the front of your car.

While we are on the subject of ABS (and the OP isn't back yet...lol) I'm gonna ask something and see if you can answer.

I've rode in my buddies S-10 before, as well as drove it. His has ABS...and you can definitely tell. When you hit the breaks on ICE the pedal vibrates (sorta...the best description I have for it) and you can hear the ABS kick in.

Is that how all ABS sounds??

The reason I ask is I'm not really sure if my car has ABS or not. Is there an easier way to tell??

I know this may seem like a dumb question...but I don't know much about ABS.

Yeah, most ABS units will sound like that. Its simply the unit pulsing to keep the wheels turning.

The easiest way to check if you have ABS is to open the hood and look on the passenger's side for the ABS unit. It will be right next to the coolant return hose going to the radiator and should have 4 brakes lines coming out of the top.
