The battery light on the dashboard came on about 4 months ago so I replaced the alternator. It went away and then came back. I tested the voltage with a volt meter and the current the battery with the car running was about 14.1 volts. The light comes on and goes off at random. I am confident the alternator is charging because I have been teesting the current and it is always over 14 volts and I have been driving the car like this for about 3 or 4 months now. I think I have a short or faulty ground somewhere.

Anyone know where I should look?

Thanks in advance!

That's definitely a strange one. I glanced through the FSM a bit to try finding a diagram showing the routing of the wiring to give voltage to the light but haven't had any luck yet. I'll keep looking though and let you know what I find.

The charge light is getting the signal from pin 28 in the plug on the right side of the cluster, below the chime but I've been unable to find anything further than that yet.

You can see it on EL-44 (page 44) of the FSM here: http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/maxima/1994/el.pdf
