I have a newly finished ka-t and i am having idle issues and bogging problems at any rpm. Heres what i got.. deatchwerks 650cc injectors, z32 maf, enthalpy rom tune, t3/t4 .48 a/r turbo, cp pistons, cometic, etc...

When i start the car(cold) idle jumps between 900rpms to 1500. it just fluctuates back and forth until warm, then idle stays consistent at about 900 or so. I do not have the iacv hose hooked up into my IC piping yet but i didnt think that that would matter to much while im still getting all the bugs fixed. When i hit the gas, it wants to just shut off on me.. and the engine light comes on momentarily and after it gets to a steady idle it goes right back out. I assume this is a problem with the mafs but it is getting voltage, throwing no codes, and if i unplug it, the car really runs bad. I dont know what else it could be. I looked through the fsm and it says to squeeze the iacv hose and if engine speed falls there is a problem there, well my engine speed does fall but the hose is still sucking plenty of air in? If anybody has had similiar symptoms or knows what is wrong please respond, I have tried searching but it seems other problems are different. any help is appreciated----thanks

get that hose hooked up to the iacv. it's getting unmetered air through there.

okay... everything is hooked up correctly now. Now the car will rev up all the way to 7000 or so, but between 1000-2000 rpms, the car has absolutely no power and if bogs out with the slightest touch of the throttle... if you can tap the throttle gently and climb above 2000, it has perfect responce and no problems. I am getting the ecu code 21 which is the ignition signal circuit, and that is it. I checked my timing with a light and it is dead on. My mafs has all of the correct voltage and the car will shut off or run really horrible if i unplug it. What it sounds like to me is a vacuum leak??? I havent been able to test it yet but my boost/vac gauge reads about 12-15 hg when im idling, my idle is kind of high at about 900-1000 also, but i havent tried to adjust it. Compression test is good all cylinders about 160 or so. its pretty consistent. I believe this sounds like a bad vacuum leak, but i wasnt sure if it was tps or something else im not sure about. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Yikes 12-15 is way low. You should be getting 22 at the very least. I had a similar situation where it turned out to be the MAFS wiring wasn't as strong as it should have been but I had no codes, but the vac was in the same ball park as yours.

Start poking around for loose hoses and go around with a can of carb cleaner and spray areas that have seams (for example your intake manifold to the head, try spraying around there) and see where that carb cleaner is getting sucked in.

thats what i was thinking. Thanks for the input 180fan i hope i can find this problem soon. I might try to make one of the vacuum leak testers...
