hello all, thx in advance, im new to the forum. i bought a1992 infiniti q45 ,sight unseen, with no battery or info on the car, for 300 bucks. i put in a battery, and the car spins over, sound as though it has compression, but havnt gotten 2 check it yet.fuel pressure was in specs.found a tech. bulletin that said to remove the inhibit/fp relay and spin over. upon doing so, the engine started to spit/pop back through the air induction.a noise started in the left bank head area, im pretty sure its in the top end, then it locked.when hitting the starter the fan will turn about an inch and kick back.i really think something in the head has locked, but in the morning im going to remove the valve cover.im hoping its in the top end, anyone ever seen anything of this nature.... thx for ur time

So the motor is locked?

Did you try turning it yourself to see if it spins (Use a breaker bar Obviously)?

I am afraid that the timing chain guides let go and well you know what happens from there...

So you can part it out, try and get your money back because its a lemon or do the cash for clunkers (Morons) thing.

He can't do the cash for clunkers for at least two reasons. 1. The car has to move under its own power.

2. He would have had to owned it for a year during which time it was registered and insured.

i had a 3 liter ,think it was an 87 maxima, head bolt backed out and got against a lobe on the cam, i hope its something like that, either way im gona fix it. 73000 mi and in excellent shape, way too good 2 scrap, even if i buy a 800.00 engine. the car has no interior nor exterior flaws and everything i can check without driving it works. i dont have the heart 2 junk it....lol

In that case you might as well remove your motor, keep any good parts as spares and find a junkyard motor that is in good shape to put in.

Remmber on the new motor to repalce anything that is in sight as it will be harder to do so after its in.

Somthing to replace:

Fuel Injectors and harnessALL plenum HosesKnock sensors and harnessClean thottle body, AAC valve (IAC) and EGR.Replace oil pump chainReplace timing chain and (Guides 1990-1993 VH45DE's only)

I must have missed somerthings that others will list.
