Alright guys heres the situation...

I drove to the GF's house in Warren, PA this past Friday. Its a 2 hour drive. No problems.

I drove it on and off here and there in Warren, no problems. Monday around noon I go to start my car, it runs like ****. It had rained the night before, and it was SUPER humid so I figured moisture must be to blame. A bottle of Drygas and an hour later and she's running like a champ again.

I go to leave her house that night to drive back home and I notice something odd is going on with the transmission. As I accelerate, it shifts right through the gears all the way down to fourth before I hit 45 mph. I give it a little throttle to kick it down a gear and nothing. So I floor it...literally...still no down shift.

As I'm driving home I stop at a gas station, shut my car off, and when I start it up, she is shifting normally again.

I'm almost home (15 min from my house approx.) and it starts doing it again as I am merging onto the interstate.

Now it constantly does it. I think its something electrical because it still shifts ok and I can downshift manually but I can't kick it down just by giving it extra throttle.

Cliffnotes:

Auto transmission shifts through gears, won't down shift if I give it throttle to kick it down.

Thanks guys!!!!

Could be your Throttle Position Sensor. You can try cleaning it instead of replacing it. It'll require making a hole in the sealed case, though (which you can then re-seal with epoxy). I would test it for correct voltage first, though (procedure will be in the FSM).

The car shifts back down to 1st when you come to a stop, right?

Yea it shifts back down as I slow down...but it just won't kick down when I force it too with the throttle.

I'll test my voltage 1st and go on from there...thanks MoD.

Has anyone else had a problem like this??
