I was taking my transmission of and dropped it, cause i'm an idiot and it must have landed on the output shaft, because the bronze colored sleeve is bent in. Is this bad? Can I replace it? Does anything critical seal here? Also after I dropped it I found a about 1/4in by 2in tight wound spring did this come out of the transmission? Thanks abunchJoe

Anyone have any ideas for Joe here?

I'm not too familiar with slushboxes so I'm no help...

without a picture I would guess that he is referring to the dust shield and the rear seal. Both are easy enough to replace.

It is a manual. Detent spring? crap, i just put it back together, i didnt see where it would go in there. The bronze thing is just rubbing, i talked to a nissan parts guy he said its no biggie, but i know the spring isnt from my short shifter...

Once you pull the 6 bolts off for the cover that hold the shifter plate to the trans. There should be a spot on the side where the spring should be able to drop back down in. I believe it should stick out a little and compress when you seal the cover back up and put the bolts back in.

The grammar is a little confusing on this, but it sounds like you are saying that there is a whirring noise when you push the clutch pedal down to the floor with the car in gear while you are stopped? If so, then you probably have a bad pilot bearing or a bad throw out bearing.

Sorry, let me be clear about it, because i wasn't last time. When I am stopped or at a low speed and i push the clutch pedal in, It takes a split second (i think thats the transmission input shaft stoppping) but it makes a horrible rubbing noise. It wont do it above about 5 miles an hour, but when im stopped leaving stoplights and i push the clutch in to put it in gear the sound is horriffic, and its loud as all hell too... I talked to a friend thats a mechanic, and he said it maybe that the clutch fork is off the pivot ball. guess i gotta check that out. I hope i dont have to take the transmission back off, that was a huge pain in the ***.
