92 240SX

ok i have a 92 240 with an engine that is shot. it runs and pulls but its got the sound as if it has a spun connecting rod bearing. or maybe as if the pitons are hitting the valves.. im unsure. but i was wondering if i would have to do anything special if i were to put a ka24de from a 95+ 240 in it since they are pretty easy to come by. if so what do i need to do? and another thing is my transmission is hard to shift into 1st and reverse sometimes. not all the time but i would say about 25% of the time i have a problem shifting into 1st or reverse. to get it to go i can let off the clutch then push it back in once or twice and it will slip in but its frustrating. any suggestions?

As far as the transmission goes, I'd just live with it. You'll notice that rather than trying several times until it finally drops into gear, if you'll hold the pressure on the stick as you begin to let the clutch up and give it gas it will drop into gear on it's own every time.
