Has anyone ever seen this problem? I have a 92' 240SX convertible with automatic transmission When I initially turn the key to start the car, I'm able to turn the key to the on position but the car won't start unless I turn the steering wheel all the way to the right or left while still in 'park'. I'm able to turn the key without any problem, but the problem is finding that 'sweet' spot where I'm able to engage the starter. Anyone have any ideas???

Sounds like you have an ignition cylinder problem. It may also be your key. If you're using the original key, it may be worn down so far that it won't let you start the car unless the ignition cylinder locking mechanism is at a certain point.

yeah, could be ign. cylinder, or key. Possibly the ign. switch. I would disconnect the ign. switch from the back of the lock cylinder, and try turning the car on that way, if it kicks over without the steering wheel movement, problem solved, if not, at least you narrowed down the problems!
