92 240sx sounds like a WRX

i start it runs like a wrx, not sure what it is, but i think it is the battery because it never did this before, the battery is dead and im not sure if the alternator is charging it. I had to ghetto wire my electric fan so it is always on and that might be the problem why the battery is draining so fast. Also my RPM's are 950 not sure if that is ok.

is it smoking at all? do you have a check engine light on? does it still drive normal and just sound like a wrx? loss of power? com'n man, help us help you. usually when an inline motor sounds like a wrx its not good. not good as in blown motor.

I thought a WRX sounds the way it does because of the motor it uses. Why would a spark plug make it sound like that?

you most likely have the problem that i just experienced. when first cranked, it idles like a WRX with an exhaust does. when you rev it, the noise goes away. this is caused by bad piston rings. my number one rings just went and it idles like ***. at WOT, there is a defined loss in power.

anyways, best way to double-check is to pull your spark plugs. if there is a buttload of oil of one of them (as in dripping off), then the rings are gone on that piston.

Yeah, nevermind, I was thinking of something else. All the these LS s and LT s I get them all confused. Mines got the LS1 motor in it.

Does it shake? It could be one of your fuel injectors. I had a fuel injector go out on me once and my car sounded like a subaru and it ran rough.

when mine was sounding like a wrx, one of my cyclinder wasnt running.... it was the 1st cyclinder i believe..... do you still have power?

It could be that one of the AIV/PAIR valve connections is loose or disconnected.

the wrx uses a bitchin turbo flat-4. if it sounds like a wrx, cool, wrx's rock. describe your situation a little better. and v-6 f-bodys use gm3800's

The suby motors makes the brap sound because of the unequal length in the runners of the headers. When an equal length mani is put onm the brap go away. You have an exhaust leak?

gotta be a dead cylinder, a plug is not firing. With the engine running pull the #1 plug wire, if the engine runs worse, plug it back in and move to the next. If you pull a wire and the engine stays the same, that's the sumbitch, troubleshoot it from there.

ok, turn your car on, disconnect 1 at a time, spark plug wires, when you disconnect each wire at a time, the engine should shake alittle, for example, if you disconnect plug wire goin to cylinder #1 , engine shake, that cylinder is ok, cyl 2, disconnect and engine does not make a difference, thats your bad cylinder, cuz you might have bad wires, spark plugs, no comprestion, bad HG, or bad injector, so check for all this, i might be missing something, so anybody see wat i missed help me out.
