hey everyone i just bought a '92 240sx...good ...now heres the bad part....theres some mechanical and electrical problems..i dont know much about the nissan engines but i can work on cars with direction...any help at all is welcome

mechanical:1)BIGGEST PROBLEM!!!!....a clicking sound from the engine block area...it sounds like metal on metal...i''ve checked different articles and it seems that it could be just the timing chain hitting its guide up to broken valve guides or a new head or a new engine...any suggestions or would it be better to replace the stock engine with another nissan engine that i see is so popular

2)when i start the car and rev the engine blue smoke pours out and when i lay off the gas it smokes even more...i can smell the oil and i know the blue smoke is from burning oil,i just dont know what would cause it.

3)the exhuast system is pretty bad but still working, should i buy a replacement OEM or just spend a few dollars and buy a performance system as this is what i eventually intend for the car

electrical:1)the blower motor doesnt work.I was told the a/c and heat work when i bought the car but when i got the car the blower doesn't do anything.

2)the drivers side seatbelt won't move...the passenger side works fine, but the drivers side doesn't budge

3)the radio isn't stock but theres no power to it at all...i cant get it out to see if its wired up either...it seems like the people who had it before me may have just wedged it in.

thanks, matt

1) open valve cover to verify if that top guide is still there... then, curse @ it while removing that summabiatch!

2)constantly check your oil level & top off; either valve stem seals or piston rings are worn... time for compression/leakdown test to verify which one of the lesser evils

3)your choice/$/plans on what u intend------------1) check fuses, then go for hunting the short/open circuits w/ a voltmeter; d/l FSM for more info

2) covered under a lifetime warranty! goto nearest dealer for free repair/replacement... don't let them even charge u for that! call 800# for district manager if the local dealer won't cooperate

3) venture over http://www.installdr.com remove & mebbe check if the aftermarket has its own fuse. of course, after checking the fuse panel to see if any are blown.

that aftermarket unit shouldn't have the illumination wires attached to car's harness. + it should have a seperate, independent ground wire routed to body ground somewhere else.

what happened to nistech? hey there rogoman of original amarok.org!
