92 240SX M/T & Diff - Switching to Synthetic?

I want to switch my M/T and diff fluid/oil from conventional to synthetic. Car has over 180,000 miles on it and I don't know if they've ever been changed.

Will draining and refilling do or will I need to flush?

If flushing is required can this be done at home or will I need to take it to a shop (ie - is a machine required to flush)? If it can be done at home is there a write up somewhere?
