'92 240SX coupe: Digital Cluster gremlins

Ok, when I bought this coupe The speedometer/HUD were not working, he said the capacitor was probably gone, which is probably the case. After a few days all of the lights in the cluster stopped lighting up, so I decided to buy another cluster on ebay. I tried installing the new one and after I plugged it in I turned the parking lights on to see if the cluster lit up. The only lights that lit up were the 2 that light up the tach and clock. Also I noticed if I put pressure, like push on the cluster while it was in the car, that those 2 lights would go out and there would be no light.

So I took it out and decided to test it using sum wire and a jump box I have in my garage, constant 12v so why not. While testing I noticed the 2 lights for the tach and light work on a separate circuit than the rest of the illumination lights. But either way, sure enough all the lights worked fine while testing it out of the car.

I checked it again the next day in the afternoon and all the lights worked fine, cool right? Then later that night I went to show my friend that I got the lights working and what-do-ya-know, no lights lit up. So what is going on!?!?!?!?

My thoughts now would be maybe theres something wrong with my harness behind the dash.

Any advice from somebody more experienced?

*Update* The lights were working this afternoon, but later tonight when I went to show my friend, none of the lights came on. Is the harness bad? Is there something going on with the car because of the cold weather?
