The car is a 92 240sx and i smacked a curb pretty hard driving like a dumbass in the rain. I bent up my control arm and split the tension rod. Im trying to get the control arm off but am having slight problems. I got every bolt off but the part holding it close to the rotor. I think its called a ball joint or something? Anyway im not really sure how it works, if i need some kinda special tool to detach it or if u just muscle it off? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanx!

To separate the ball joint from the spindle, you need to use a ball joint remover tool. The tool can be rented at most auto parts stores.

Usually dont need the fork or removal tool unless it is just rusted on. I usually use a long pry bar for leverage between the spindle and the control arm. The spindle is what the ball joint goes through and has the nut you must remove on the top side. While prying down on the control arm with the pry bar smack the spindle along the outside where the ball joint goes through. I suggest threading the nut on a couple threads to prevent yourself from slaming your hand on the asphalt when it pops out.
