Hey all, I just started having a problem this summer with my A/C. Basically, on hot days (85 to 90+) the air compressor and A/C Indicator Light will both turn off for a few minutes thus warming the car up almost instantly. It seems to turn off only when I'm stopping, and will turn back on once i've started moving for a little bit. However, that is not always the case -- I tried letting the car idle while I was stopped for several minutes and it never turned off, so I can not accurately reproduce the problem.

On cooler days, the A/C always works perfectly. Also, last year when I drove to HOT Phoenix in the summer, I had no problems. I'm in the Seattle-area right now with this problem. Any ideas on where to start troubleshooting?

Thanks!

the fact that the indicator goes off too shows that its electrical. check fuses for being seated and try bumping the a/c control head to see if its got something loose.

I was thinking the same thing. I have tried hitting the A/C Controls & dash several times and nothing changes. After staring at some schematics from the FSM for a while, it appears that the indicator light goes directly to the Dual Pressure switch before it makes its way to ground to light up... did I read that correctly? If that's the case, then perhaps the dual pressure switch is turning off on hot days for some reason. Is that logical?

I will double-check all fuses to make sure they're seated correctly anyway though.

nope, the switch runs through the dual pressure switch. the indicator light is the little box marked illumination.
