I have the KA24DE out of my '92 vert and in the garage on an engine stand. I need to address a severe oil pan leak where it seals to the block, and need to remove the timing chain cover for access to the oil pick-up before the pan will drop. Question: Do I need to remove both top and bottom timing chain covers, or just the lower? I know the upper entails removing the distributor, and that just seems like additional work when I don't need to address anything up there. I have all of the lower cover bolts out, as well as the oil pan bolts, but the lower cover will not budge. Any suggestions or short cuts here?

I'm moving this to the KA engine forum.

The guys in the 'vert forum will probably be able to help, but for faster results, the experts in KA will be best!

Anybody here have an answer for him?

Thanks!

Any hints before I remove the distributor? No big deal, just trying to save time, if possible.
