my 91 Q45 got a set of blown front speakers and two of the rear ones sound really weird...

im wondering are all the TSBs recall still valid? what about all other recalls?

even though im not the first owner? if i go to dealer, what should i tell them???or should i send them to BOSE since i heard people got their both front and rear speakers fix/exchange for free??

How/when did you get Bose to give you new speakers? Was this when it was within warranty? Who did you contact at Bose?

there was an 800 number..I think I posted it here.... It was about a year and a half ago.

I am not the original owner.... they didn't ask me about that.

I was a bit surprised...because my car is a 90....

I just told them how much I enjoyed the bose...and I have a nice home system from them.

I just think they didn't want any product liability.

Anyway, the turn around was in less than 10 days....

they gave me an authorization number to return them... oddly they sent a 5th speaker.. it was for an acura i believe...I wound up selling that on ebay real cheap.

guys....I am 47 and can't remember every detail.

Somewhere in the archives should be a number for Bose... I called it...eventually got through to a human being that I struck a conversation with.... and he gave me an authorization number to return it. You might want to try and 800 directory.

Sorry , I can't come up with something better..

thanks, Heath. I put my name and bose in and this didn't turn up... I guess I would have had to put my name and amps in the search mode.

Anyway, a year and a half later the system in the 90 sounds awesome.... the 94 sounded a bit better because of the extra two speakers...but it wasn't as strong as the 90.

Hope I can be of some assistance to the ones who had questions about the Q45 speakers. I first contacted Bose through email which turned out to be a little more convenient. Then I got an email back saying they could rebuild my speakers/amps at $75 a pop. I then decided to get cheap and I told them about the recall on my car (I have a 90 but told them 91- hope they're not reading lol). They said the recall was on the rear speakers from the 91 Q45's. They then said if the dealership suggests I replace the rears then they would do it free of charge and only charge me for the fronts. ----->

The in service date is 11/90meaning it was a 91 year model. They did say that itfalls under the recall for that year which is why theywere offering to do the recall but were going tocharge me for uninstallation and reinstallation. I'mgoing to do that part myself. I will send all 4speakers in as long as the recall on the rears isgranted.

It's worth a try. At the very least you can get them all replaced for $300 total vs. $1000 total like the dealer here quoted me!

That's just silly. I went to the local dealer too, and they're not known for cutting anyone any deals. I paid $125/speaker for "rebuilds", and got back brand new units in Clarion factory boxes.

If that's the case then you got a deal. They told me $700 per speaker if I wanted brand new ones!
