91Q fuel pump change question

I am planning to change the pump by myself , based on all the great instructions here . Some mentioned cleaning the fuel tank , and something about a 'sock' ? How do I do these things . Already changed the f.filter . Car has 133kmiles , 63kmiles on current pump , which is slightly buzzing .

The sock is part of the new pump and is already installed. Don't know about cleaning the tank...hopefully a visual inspection will verify it's clean enough, but if you do see rust/sediment, you'll have to figure out a way to get it out. Do the job as close to empty as you can and fill up immediately after.
