Hi I am new to the board and could go with a 91 ka24det or a 95 ka24det, my 95 240 se has 180,000 and I could buy a 91 ka out of a se with low miles would this work ok for a rebuilder for a turbo or should I run the 91 and rebuild the 95? I have had a gn that ran mid 12's and have helped a friend with a wrx that runs strong I am looking for 280 hp to 300 hp.

the 91 has the best cams supposedly and if its got low miles and good compression let her rip, dont sweat the rebuild. Unless your like me and wanna set it up and forget engine work for several years to come.

The 91 has the best cams--true. But the ecu is "supposed" to not be as agressive. Thats the reason that a s13 and s14 are rated the same. Bone stock--I would go with the s14. 91 cams are an easy inexpensive drop in

Thanks for the help, so what do think if the motor has good compression can I swap it in the 95 or are there some differences between the two motors like the wiring harness should I run the 91 and rebuild the 95 the 95 compression is 155,125,135,145.

HIGHLIFE1 I will be selling my svt as soon as I get my 240 ready to drive, it is a very fun car to drive and I have a throttle body, short shifter and off road pipe (no cat) it's got intrax springs I would say it would be very fast on a track I just want go back to a rear wheel drive.

My roomate has an '03 SVT and it's running 13.9's on pretty much the same setup... he's also got cat back exhaust and an exhaust cam gear. It's quick though... went for a ride with him last night and it was pulling hard all the way to 6500 rpm.

ummmm---the 91 motor into a 95 chassis is doable--but will require the use of the intake manifold off of the correct year model. This has points for the correct intake air temp sensor, water coolant temp sensor, and the correct TPS sensor. You can get by without switching the mani--but youd have to changeover all the above. PLUS--doign a whole motor R&R is much more difficult and time consuming than swapping cams. Just swap the cams.

GREAT info thats what I was looking for. What about the distributor and any other ignition related things ? I will be rebuilding this motor for a turbo so it will get forged pistons and maybe upgrade some bolts and the head gasket .I still am not sure wich one would be better to turbo or is there no difference?Would the hotter cams in the 91 not work as well as the cams in the 95 for a turbo I have seen the lift and duration numbers but not the over lap I am looking for quick spooling 15lbs off boost.
