Last week I picked up horns from a 94 model. It looks like the 94 has two trumpet style horns that produce slightly different sounds. My 91 has a smaller horn that to me looks more like a motorcycle horn.

Since I've got my battery disconnected for the repair project, can anyone tell me why or describe the difference between the 91 and 94 model horns?

Since you have both horns you won't need pics from me to see if there's a physical difference. Can you see a physical difference? Is there a manufacturer's stamp on them?

So here's what I was able to find out from FAST regarding the part numbers:

There are 2 horns. One is a high note, while the other is a low note.

HORN ASSY - ELECTRIC HIGH
Part Number: 25610-60U00 (supersedes to B5610-60U00)
Prod.M/Y:0889-0790
Prod.M/Y:0790-0293

HORN ASSY - ELECTRIC HIGH
Part Number: 25610-67U60
Prod.M/Y:0293- and
Prod.M/Y:0293-0694 (HICAS models)

HORN ASSY - ELECTRIC LOW
Part Number: 25620-60U00 (supersedes to B5620-60U00)
Prod.M/Y:0889-0790
Prod.M/Y:0790-0293

HORN ASSY - ELECTRIC LOW
Part Number: 25620-67U60
Prod.M/Y:0293-

Thanks Lino -

I'll check the part numbers on the 94 horns to verify they aren't some owner installed enhancement.

As a side note, the horns from the 94 look like the horns that are used on my Ridgeline. Those horns are dual note to produce a chord sound that reminds me (and some other drivers) of a 70s Cadillac.

That's an upgrade I haven't done yet but need to. The 90's horn is doing well to be heard before the "crunch" - I need something that'll scare our moronic drivers back into their lanes around here. Not sure what's going on but I'm afraid to get the Q out of the garage anymore with the frequency of close calls I'm getting lately in the truck.

So many of us here are getting paranoid of driving our cars and leaving them in parking lots, because of the quality of drivers out there. So many of us have sustained damage and even some members have lost their cars to extensive damage :frown:.

I think James has the loudest horn setup on a Q45.

The 600 is notable for having the world’s loudest horn fitted to any production car, as demonstrated by Jeremy Clarkson in episode 5, series 11 of Top Gear.

Maybe I'll just roof mount one of these.

Tonight I hooked up the battery for loosening the crankshaft pulley bolt loose -- that worked good.

The horns are infact Nissan. I'll pass on the sound. So back to the original horns for now.

I need to find a crankshaft pulley puller like in the instructions. At 10:00 PM here WM is the only place still open. I want to remove the drivers side chain cover (with distributor). I'll look for some removal instructions. I know I need to have everything in the right TDC position.

Why are you going back to the originals? What's wrong with the sound?

Those horns must have been left out in the rain too long. The only sound I could associate with those horns is from an over used 1958 Dodge..

Brings way too many back memories of the "forward designed" cars by Virgil Exner -- soon before most all went to the junk yard.

Here's one with its fins up!
