Anyone know this?

Need to know this so i can make sure the ones on mine are standard thickness and will help to calculate thickness of new gaskets to lower compression

THANKS

Reply to my post on this by Deadalus:

"Just pulled a HG and took about a dozen measurements from different places. Pretty even distribution between 1.42mm and 1.58mm. It's starting to look like the designed nominal compressed thickness is 1.5mm, but I really thought the HG would compress more than that.If I remember to I'll put some feeler gauges on the other head and see what it yields."

If you need some made in copper, let me know, just had mine back and they look great. Went for 0.9mm on my build, and 98mm bore.

If you do get adjustable pulleys made up, please let me know, I'm after some too.

Oops, previous should have been 98mm bore, not 99. As for cc and deck height, left it to the engine builder to do. I believe the pistons have a slight bar on top to raise the CR.

Have you had it running yet with the 5 mm overbore?

I am very VERY interested to see how it goes ...

Are you confident it will be reliable?

I will get my pistons to suit the same setup but only if i can be reassured that the cylinder walls are thick enough to bore 5 mm safely ... especially when 20+psi is pushed in there from a big turbo

Yes, Wes is right, still working on it at the minute. The engine builder that's doing it is confident it'll be OK, but I'm sticking with an NA configuration because I hate turbo engines, so once you're boosting it's hard to say, guess it all depends on the cylinder pressures and temps. Think the liner material will be important too.

I'd expect to have the engine built in the next 2-3 weeks, but it will be some time before it runs. I've currently got the internal parts and dry sump pump etc, just waiting on the block being machined and the new liners fitted. Will keep you updated.

Did you have any luck with the adjustable cam gears yet?

Specifications and pictures of the dry sump would be most interesting!

Thank you, John.

Is it listed under the Dry Sump System page, or is it totally custom?

The pump is this one: http://paceproducts.co.uk/php/...ent=1But the sump pan etc is all custom. Leigh's engine is going to use a BG pump which is a little less efficient on the scavange side.

So it is crank driven by a toothed cog belt?

Yes, I have 2 options:1) attach a small diameter pulley to the end of the main crank pulley2) Have a new pulley made in ali, replacing the rear belt run (A\C) with a toothed drive).

Probably going for 2 as for one it will be much lighter and the engine will spin up quicker. Also, as the only belt driven ancillaries that will be there are the alternator and PAS pump I will probably drive them off a single belt for simplicity.

The water pump is going to be electric most likely as that huge thermostat housing is going to get in the way of the runners, so will use that hole just as a feed to the heater matrix and replace the water pump with a plate with a pipe on it.
