91 Q45a- PS pump noise?

I have a detonation-type popping sound coming from the vicinity of my ps pump. I just did the Actsus swap and looped it back about 1K ago. I don't know if something went wrong with that or if something else is making the noise. The sound is definately not coming from inside the motor. The sound doesn't seem to change in pitch or speed at different rpm. Idle, cruise and WOT seem to sound the same. The car runs and drives normally. PS has been fine except for one quick instance when it felt hard to turn. Any thoughts?

Yes, I am definately thinking along those lines. The funny thing is, I already sold the one off my parts car.

OMG I just noticed that the ps hose that I used to loop back the pump is gone! There is no way it could have just fallen off. Maybe someone saw the 'a' on the back and really needed one. The funny thing is, I almost swapped over the standard pump from my parts car, but this one only had like 10K on it. So I ended up selling my spare. DTOH!

the active pump does not like being run without oil. It will self destruct. The poping sound is internal parts disintegrating.
