While driving in Orlando (traffic) the car started losing power, It wouldn't start at all. I removed the fuel line from the top of filter, and got it started but it stumbled quite a bit, then cleaned up. No further problem till last nite, the same thing. When I did the fuel filterline trick, it started but now it stumbles and will not clean up. There is a louder than average hum coming from the back, been there since I bought the car a couple months ago. Am I looking at removing/replacing the fuel pump?? I changed the filter thinking it may have clogging but same thing. Also, when it is running at any RPM, and I gas it (in nuetral) it hesitates then revs. and from an idle I have to feather the gas pedal.

I appreciate any help.

Nick

Yes-replace pump! Get it done before it destroys your controller. Lots of good info abounds, just do a search on this site for "Q*45 fu*el pu*mp" without the asterisks and quote marks. Welcome to NICO!

Again, the search function will turn up a lot of info, including a lot about the procedure. You will have to remove the rear seats and deck cover, but that's not as big a job as it first looks. If you still have questions let us know.

Joe, thanks so much. I just got the ship notice yesterday from my latest "deposit" :). For you newer members, Joe oversees the parts dept over at Scottsdale Infiniti. They've been supporting us for years with fantastic prices and more. They really go out of their way to listen to our needs and to make it easier for us to get what we want. I haven't seen anyone else offer a "Chain Guide Replacement Kit" or an "Under Plenum Hose Kit". How easy is that?! If you can order off the site, great, but if you don't see what you need, don't be afraid to call them either. Standard shipping is very reasonable.

I will be calling you tomorrow Joe. I appreciate all the help. The thing looks better on the road than it does in the driveway....at least from my point-of-view.

Yeah! I got a bunch of suspension and brake parts from Joe a few weeks ago. He fixed one slight problem in a heartbeat - one upper link got left out of the original shipment and he air-shipped it to me the very next day. Thanks much, Joe. Your service and support to the folks here is heartily recommended.

Fuel pump is an easy DIY, with great payback. Do it before the pump crashes, and you save the controller!
