Anyone have any forwarnings about putting in an aftermarket when the factory alarm is already in there? I guess I need to figure out the wiring diagram for the factory alarm before I start messing with the after market one....
i have installed a compustar 2wss-as, Pro P2W9000FM-as (canadian version) and a pro p2wss-as (canadian version) on a 95 infiniti q45.
there are a few different caveats about installing an alarm on the q45.
for instance, the trunk pin switch can be accessed from the body control module. it can also be accessed from the trunk. to access lock/unlock you must access it at the drivers switch, not the local control unit or bcm. i'll have to check my notes to see if it is the key cylinder switch or the lock knob switch. to access power windows you must access it at both drivers switch and the master switch (center console). hood pin switch can be accessed from the bcm, or hood pin switch. trunk release switch must be used with a relay (but hey you knew that already).
the factory alarm is disabled by unlocking the door (either with the key or remote). so as long as your aftermarket unlocks the door as the factory key would, the factory alarm is disarmed. fyi, with the doors locked and aftermarket and factory alarms armed, aftermarket alarm can start the car with out any additional signals (compustar offers factory disarm options for remote start).
aftermarket alarm installs aren't a simple task and on the q45 it's even more tricky. don't let you local installer sucker you with an "I know" or "We do these kinds of cars all the time". The LAN system is one of the most sophisticated electrical systems i've ever seen on a car. and without respecting it, your aftermarket alarm will never work. any your q might be damaged as well.
also q45 electrical wiring diagram (FSM) is needed for successful installation. oh and the all-in-one installers wiring diagram cd/dvd's are incorrect!!!
