I had my plenum off over the weekend to fix a gas leak. (missed replacing one of the hoses last time) While I was at it I started cleaning out the gunk from the plenum. There is a vacuum solenoid close to the throttle cam. How free is this supposed to be? I can pry it up with a screwdriver but it is really stiff. Wondering if this is part of my idle problem. Can I disassemble it and clean it up? Or is it supposed to be that way.ThanksReid

No this is on the throttle body itself. Appears as it will increase the throttle opening in response to vacuum.

This doesn't sound right... please don't remove or adjust anything on the throttle body! Just clean around the butterfly valve and anything else you can get to and go with that. If you can post a picture of what you're talking about that would help...

DONOT DONOT turn any of the screws on the TB fast idle [warmup] cam assembly or you will be extremely sorry and probably commit suicide with a rusty screw driver.

Study FSM for why not.

Acquire a new gasket and remove and clean your IAC and PCV.........these 3 systems are partners in idle rpm.

The TB has 2 coolant hoses on bottom which warm up the fast idle system.........why cold crank starts at 1500-2000 depending on coolant and drops at coolant warms up over 5-10 minutes.
