the power steering is working part time, probably the pump. However I've heard that there is also an electrical module with the PS, am I wrong or could this be part of the problem?

Does the speedometer drop out at the same time as your p/s failure?

There are also test methods to check the p/s solenoid in the factory service manual... do you have one?

How often have you mechanically exchanged the fluid?

When and how many miles ago did yo replace your belts and pulley tensioner bearings?

It pays to read the stickies at the top of each Forum before posting.

A rebuilt engine was put in 2 1/2 years ago, everything was changed at that time. The stickies on the top of the page didn't show anything reguarding a electrical module. I was just wondering if it was valid information.

There is a power steering control unit under the dash but they're not known to go bad. Look in the EL section of the FSM- Location of Electrical Units, Passenger Compartment.

It's more likely a bad PS pump or PS pulley, air in the line, an idler pulley bearing siezing, or the transmission's speed sensor (except the speedo's OK).

Any odd noises? Recent maintenance? Losing fluid?

T3 has probably replaced 30 power steering pressure control units in 10 years. Always a hot item from a junker.
