Mechanic told me my 91 Q45 has a bad wheel bearing on the left side! Anyone has replaced it before? How difficult is the job?

Thanks

It's a freaking nightmare. Maybe it was just my car, but they are in there tight. Consider replacing the entire hub assembly with a junkyard unit. Bearing needs to be pressed out or, if going by what the manual says, beat out with a sledgehammer ("suitable tool").

I removed the entire steering knuckle and brought it to a shop to do the bearing press work. (Hey, I just wrote that in another thread, too!)

In hindsight that would have been a better alternative than DIY. I mushroomed the hub, and maybe deformed the knuckle. They'll need to be replaced. The other side will go to a shop if I can find one.I have a 12 ton press, but no jigs to get around the odd shape of the knuckle. Set the knuckle in the press while I hammered on it.
