I am new here, so forgive me for my kack of knowledge..My 91 Q has 351K miles (see the post about the over 200K q's for details).., and the check engine light is on for the first time in soemthing like 9 years, giving a code of 41 and 43..What do they mean? I had to take it to some one else than my preferred mechanic and the refuse to tell me whats wrong with my car, just that it will cost $2100 to fix.. OUUUUCH! Also have infomrmed me my water pump is leaking and it has an oil leak and one other leak, all that my normal mechanic knows nothing about, but acknoweldges the water pump is leaking (after as many miles, i think i would be to)This car is98 % highway cruiser, an nothing has seemed to change scince the light came on. Is it ok to drive with the darn thing on? My abs light has been on, ever scince i was given the car, and i know it needs a computer, but hate abs, so don't bother to fix it and the car has been fine and hasn't been affected in the least.. Thanks

You have lived a charmed life.....so far. Ever have that dream where you need to stop really fast and the pedal just goes to the floor and nothing happens?

Don't have a 1990 manual, but i'll check the codes for 1995. Probably the same.

Not sure about Code 41... 43 is the throttle position sensor.

The "check engine" light on OBDI cars (pre 1996) only come on for more serious failures... OBDII will hound you to death. So yes, I think it's serious enough that it needs to be fixed.

Nice to see a fellow South Carolinian on here... who have you been using for service?
