I have a 91Q and want to install an aftermarket alarm myself. I have a nice stereo setup and really nice wheel and tires that I want to protect. Is ther a write up anywhere about how to install the alarm and the components? Thanks

if you have never installed an alarm before, bring it somewhere to have it done. not only does it eat up a lot of time (i would say 6-8 hours for a first timer) but if you have no electrical experience or dont have a voltimeter you will be in the dark. some alarms have 30+ wires that need to be located, tested, and finally soldered. and if you run into any problems, the diagnosis is long-winded and no fun at all. some wires need to be run through the firewall if it has a horn and/or hood switch. if you have any extra sensors, they have to be positioned correctly and carefully or else they are pointless and never go off or are too sensitive. once you have the car together, the alarm then needs to be calibrated, which with some alarms can only be done by a shop with the correct tools. honestly, save up for a week or two, and bring it somewhere that has been doing alarms for a while. you will get a much cleaner install that works correctly in about half the time.
