Hello,

I have been getting a rough ride in my Q and found out that I have a leak by the strut (left front). Infiniti quote a ridiculous price for the left strut. I searched online and found replacement struts 4 for the cost of one from infiniti but it is not active suspension. Has anyone replace their struts and are you happy with them? What do you recommend?

The active strut acts like a spring providing an additional 35% of the stiffness. To use standard shocks you must replace the active springs with standard springs and misc hardware.

You chose to acquire a Q with the $8,000 optional suspension and things wear out so you get to replace them or redesign/convert back to standard suspension.

After 15 years, I would expect that all 4 of them are near failure and for sure all 9 accumulators need recharging.............you should be able to make the system perform as brand new for [4 new + 5 recharge + misc] ~~$5,000-6,000 or strip and convert for $1200-$2000.

Hey, welcome to the board!

You need to read all the posts by texasoil, the authority on active suspension.

He also has a website, http://www.q45asuspension.com

The active set-up is great when maintained, but very expensive when not as components are very precisely manufactured. AS Q45tech noted, most people buy these cars with no idea of what is required to maintain them.

Happy reading.
