I have a Q without the active suspension and it will swerve on wet pavement or spin on the slightest hill. I've got the standard size tires on it but someone suggested I weigh down the trunk with 100 lbs. of sand bags.

Some how I don't think that's a good idea. Any suggestions as to resolving this problem?

Thanks.

What kind of tires are on it?

Currently, standard-sized 215/65/R15 Goodyear Regatta 2. I'm trying to avoid going to a wider size since I'll have to buy wheels to go along with them. I'd rather keep the expenses lower since I may trade in the car in the spring.

Chances are your tires are very old and hard. Another possibility is you are way too aggressive on the throttle because you've had lower powered cars before your Q.

I've had the Q for 6 years now so I doubt it's the latter. I'm not really that agressive. In fact, I'm always cautious now evbery time I take a corner on a wet surface.

The tires are older and I do plan to replace them tomorrow. I've had them for a couple of years now but haven't gotten very high mileage on them. They are due to be replaced though. I got a quote for Capital tires (apparently made by Yokohama) for about $75 per tire installed.

Like I said, I don't want to spend a lot since I'm going to trade the car in n a few months. I have no doubt that it will be parted out since it's pushing 150,000 miles and has some minor body work needed around the rear wheels. Since the trade-in value is so low on these cars, I don't want to throw away the money.

The same happens for me on any set of tires. Could the VLSD be failing, or am I thinking incorrectly?

Well I committed a cardinal sin when it comes to Infinitis but since I'm not going to have the car for very long (and because it's probably going to be parted out anyways), I slapped some Korean "Capitol Classe Premiere" on the car.

I can imagine the looks of disgust on folks faces here...

They were cheap ($75 each installed) and are rated 460AA. One way or another, they were better than the totally worn out Regatta 2s I had on there and will certainly last the 2-3 months I need them for.

Proof is in the pudding. Does the car handle any better?

It was pouring rain in St. Louis tonight and the difference was night and day. The car was much, much better on the roads.
