lovin the drive in ma q-45-a
new to sight glad to see such a fan base...

woke up one morning,,,waited for my car to warm up,,,,was makeing a whinning noise,I could feel the noise in the shifter,,,the noise incresed with r.p.m. and was present in evey gear I selected.
it was due for a transmission servicing,,,,ive herd no grinding noises or any thing that screams damage to the gears or bands,,,,sounds to me like a cloged filter or a failed oil pump,,,,I'm thinking of a double flush and filter replacment and feel that out but if its ovious its the pump,,,then i would like to keep it cheep-ish do the transmission removal myself....

has any one out there been in the same situation,,,,things done them selves interesting add ons wile the tech is doing a re-build and is my transmission hooped :frown:

Mine did that a few days before the noise turned into "crunch crunch crunch" and the transmission siezed up. When it siezed up in the middle of an intersection, it had to be put on a flatbed and hauled to the shop. Traffic was stopped because the car would not budge until it was hauled away. The dirveshaft had to be removed so the car could be rolled into the garage. I think you can get a deal on a Nissan Rebuilt transmission. I would not venture far from home at this point. Plan to spend from $2500 to $3200 unless you can DIY the transmission swap and save an installation charge.

I would venture to guess your pump or convertor is going out. I would say do a trans service and add a bottle of lucas stop slip to it and ride it till it dies!
