91' Nissan Pickup Key Stuck Trouble

Hi all. I have a 91' Nissan pickup 2wd. The trouble I am having is that the key is stuck in the ignition. It will turn and start just fine, but when I stop and turn the truck off the key will not go into the lock position and release. I press the release button but it is stuck and will not release. I opened up the column and clicked the emergency release, press the button, and it lets the button go in and the key goes into lock then releases. I put the key back in the ignition and start the truck, turn it off, and again it will not go into lock and release the key unless I use the emergency switch. I do not want to drive around with out the steering covers on and use the emergency release button to get the key out every time. Can someone tell me what this is and how to fix it?

I had this issue on my auto '91 as well. I flipped the emergency switch and the key has come out every time since then.

Yes I flipped the switch and the key comes out, but when I re insert the key, turn the truck on, turn it off, it returns to the problem of not coming out. I would rather not have to do the emergency switch every time I want my key to come out.

There is a Key Lock Solenoid on these trucks. It is a two wire solenoid that connects with the Shift Lock Control Unit. In the factory service manual the solenoid is listed at location 264M. See page 82 >>> http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/Hardbody/1994/EL.pdf

yea noticed mine doing it yesterday I pushed forward on the shifter and it turned and came out
