this is the first time I mess around with a 300zx tt and first time I own one.knowing this would be a great project I bought the car cheap with a blown engine. exterior and interior are in a good condition. I want to fix it up but cant decide what to put. as far me doing the work would be hard I don't have time since I work a lot im only home once a month four four days posting.php?mode=reply&f=313&t=586905#. I might need somebody like a pro to work on it. right now I have save $5000 I know I might need more than this.but I know its enough to buy or rebuild an engine. I just want it running with a good strong engine knowing it would last a while doing the right maintance. I would be saving more for the rest.... as far as the engine I was looking at the rb26 vg30det its a great engine but hard to work on... but can somebody help me out which would be better?

For 5000 dollars and you won't be doing the work...you could roll the dice on a used JDM engine for 1-2k. Shop labor is going to eat up the rest of that. You could also have a shop do the rebuild rather than buying used. Is going to run you more than buying a used engine.

I've seen that a full RB26 setup takes 10-15k just for the engine and other parts. You'd need to find a reputable shop, and there aren't many that have properly done the RB swap. Probably run you another $10k for labor, at least. So, I wouldn't get your hopes set on it.
