I wish that there was a similar band-aid for the BarbieQ, but I suppose that the 4.1 just doesn't have the reserve. Bummer.

There is if you want to get an ECU form Impul.

But the Japanese VH41DE had the spider plenum, better headers, and Japanese quality gasoline.

My guess is that the ECU for the Y33 wont do what it does for the G50 since its OBDII, OBDII ECU's tend to be a little more agressive since they are faster at computing things.

Has anyone here tried it and posted results? Or, has anyone driven a BarbieQ modified in this manner?

I have never seen my 91 q45 redline on the tach like this, no rev limiter plus it works hand and hand with my other mods my ported heads and ported exhaust manifolds, which where very restrictive maybe because of emission standards, aftermarket filter intake and of course a 93 tcu for 1-2-3 auto shifting, my guides where changed and a new oil pump chain was also installed, its great to have a large garage with tools where I had the spare time to work on this project, I also have a 72 turbocharged datsun 240z a project thats in progress and should be finished soon.I have great respect for my q45 now as to be very humble and I have more respect for the road after experiencing the power that my q45 has

I'm glad people get so worked up about an improvement of 0.2>0.3<0.4 seconds in acceleration. Most people cannot resolve a second without a stopwatch much less 0.2.

But the NICO ECU is still way far and beyond any other modification, short of supercharging that one can do on 90-93 Q. Absolutely the most cost effective...................cost per pound foot or HP.

Just pointing out how close to perfect the factory was in squeezing things out of engine and how difficult any mod is to get real NOTICEABLE USEFUL gains.

If 20-30 HP can only reduce times by 0.3 seconds imagine what 2 or 5 HP can do.

Some of the other Nissan sites have members whose entire life revolves around finding a few HP to post a new dyno graph each week.............many make up their own dyno graphs or use other brand dyno charts to make their organs larger.

When I was younger, I remember XKE and Corvettes (normal, before monster motors and without forklift rear end ratios) were considered fast if they broke 7 seconds 0 -60 mph. Most cars were condsidered pretty good at 9 -10 seconds. Engines were a lot more inefficient and highly rated on net (of accesories) HP back then.

I really dont know who has one of these units available, I was lucky enough to have one of the nico members send me a email about some q45 performance parts that he had for sale, and what was so great is that the guy was local, so I went and picked up the ecu. some of the members on this site will steer you in the right direction on info where to obtain the nico ecu.
