FYI: Engine is a KA24DE with ~209000 miles with I/H/E, Plug wires, plugs.
Today I had my AC compressor pulled because it was dead and knocking around in the engine compartment. Not one hour after coming off the lift, the engine light would come on, the gas pedal would stiffen and the car would start slowing down like I was engine braking. It did this twice within twenty minutes (in regular traffic, varying speeds) and then not again for the last thirty minutes of my drive.
Is this indicative of detonation? My 86 Nissan Pickup did the same thing with the pedal (minus engine light) and proptly denotated on the number four cylinder.
Also, after I parked, I started the engine again, revved it twice to about 4000 rpm, and had no problems. Is this just a freak occurence? If not, about how long do I have on the engine before I need to swap in a new one?
