91 ka24de auto smoked like crazy

Ok so heres the story i have a 240sx that was sitting for some time but it worked except the transmission. The transmission only has Drive and Park no reverse no neutral, so I turned it on today and the car started right up no problems but there was an acceleration issue, I would accelerate and it would not go past 2500 rpms. The car after some time started smoking like crazy on the underside of the engine and the started accelerating just fine but i immediately shut it off and tried to find the source of the problem but i am stumped can anyone tell me just by reading this what could of happened to my sx?

I'm pretty sure when the MAF is bad it will limit your rpm's like that. As far as the smoke, you'll need to be more descriptive.
