I have just aquired this intake manifold, but the catch is I intend to install it on my '00 Frontier. I'm trying to figure out what some parts are on this intake, but I need to know where a few items hook up and where is the thermostat on your cars? I have pics of it on my site at http://photobucket.com/albums/...ntier/ what bolts next to the manifold split? It didn't come bolted down, I think that's where the egr valve goes?

thanks,Mike

also, if someone is in the Fort Campbell area, that would help a lot

thermostats on ka24 rwd are located in the lower timing covers. I cant really determine from your pictures+question what you are asking about egr. You should block all egr off at the manifold with your swap.

You didnt exactly ask this but what are you planning to do wiring wise? Im somewhat non-familiar with the 00 frontier system. Does your truck use both a map and maf sensor like the earlier model frontier/late model hardbody? Adapting your harness and ecu, regardless, will be a bit tricky. It can be done, but the external mounted 240sx maf will have to be calibrated for in your ecu, and as far as i know that is not possible with the obd2 truck ecus, it is with obd1. Your best option is swapping the 240sx de engine harness and ecu, patching in whats necessary. Or you could even go with the sohc 240sx harness and ecu, using a sohc 240sx distributor (bolts right up). This would allow full simple rom tuning capability, im working on datalogging and real time monitoring using this ecu as well. Now that i think about it, the latter is what i would definately do.

btw, thats a really nice truck.

I was trying to figure out if it was missing in that spot or not. I believe it is.the pics of it is how I got it. I only removed the throttle body. the trucks thermostat is located on the intake manifold, so i will have to fabricate something up for it. I plan on using the stock computer and wiring harness. the components i can identify are the same as what is on my truck, and i plan to use the existing maf, but if someone could give me voltage specifics, I'm willing to bet the read the same voltages. an example would be the air intake/coolant temp sensors. from my '82 280ZX to my '00 Frontier the values for these sensors hasn't changed. the map sensor is off to the side, so it just needs a vacuum line hooked to it. If i have to lengthen a few wires on my harness, I will. I also believe that my trucks fuel rail will cross right over to it since it doesn't have one. If someone would happen to post or email a vacuum/coolant hose diagram it would be very helpful for planning my install. If I do choose to go with any aftermarket ecu, I will go with megasquirt. I'm waiting to put it into my ZX right now. I currently have the manifold apart to clean/smooth down some sharp edges. really appreciate the opinions. and thanks for the compliment.Mike

So the thermostat is in the upper water neck, I always thought that bolt on extension was just that, and that the thermostat was in lower cover like the rest. Good info to know.

You can use an inline external thermostat in your upper radiater hose.

You can try adapting your harness and ecu, but i think your going to have problems with cel due to maf. On the earlier model truck ka's, which use similar manifold and maf, switching to 240sx maf requires ecu re-tune.

actually I just went into my fsm and the truck does also have it in the lower cover. I looked lat it last night and thought that extension was that also. I have something in mind for the maf as well. once i start getting to work on it, I'll repost here with what i did/what i think of it. I'll probably have to relocate the battery/radiator overflow to the drivers side also.

Yeah post up your findings with that harness conversion, ive never really worked on that particular system so what i say is just an educated guess. Does your truck have that stepper motor near the map sensor for cold warmup air bypass? Ive seen some map sensor trucks with it and some not.

well, getting back online with this project. Devious, which distributor were you talking about? the hitachi unit or the mitsu? that swap would help me out a lot as I have my distributor converted to an external coil. about the MAF again. the piece that the 240's and other Nissans with the KA use to house the maf looks exactly the same as the piece that sits on top of my trottle body, so what I think i may do is get one of those housings, see if i can bore it out to 60mm so it's the same diameter as the tb, and plug my truck's maf into it. I may have to lengthen the wires, but that will be okay. got new hardware for the manifold, now it's time to get some gaskets. I will take some pics next week of what i have/ know what they are and see what a few more items are.

if anyone has any ideas that might help or any insight, let me know.

thanks,Mike
