are there any types of ic chips that I can purchase that will make my transmission shift from first gear instead of second gear on my 91 infiniti Q45.

Yea they call it a 1993 Q45 TCU AKA Transmission Control Unit, some 1993's had a 1990-1992 transmission so its best to find an early 1993 TCU.

Also make sure those CHAIN GUIDES ARE METAL if not replace them.

Add a NICO ECU to your car for $250 ONLY if your car is in tip top shape.

Also install a transmission cooler as well to keep it cooler and prolong its life.

All 1990 - 1993 transmissions are the same. Only the 1993 had the 1st gear start TCU. The part number is 31036-64U20.

There was also one ending in 64U75 released as a countermeasure for t/c lockup shock - but I have never actually seen one. I suspect they weren't installed very often.

Many members have had success using the '94 and '95 TCUs, but they are technically incorrect for the transmission since the gearing in the 94-96 transmissions were different.

hehe, I just installed a 1994 tcu, it starts in 1st, but hits rev limiter for a second when you floor it. im in the process of getting a custom tune from e-mance.com so he's gonna raise the redline, and get rid of the top speed limit, and advance timing and lean out the fuel mixture to get around 15, 20 more ponys. He's also gonna make it so i can run an e-85 power tune with the flick of a switch. and change the base, 14.7 : 1 a/f to 15 or 16:1 when there is less load. anyway, the 94 tcu works, but everyone seems to say the 93 is the best one. so i'd get that.

You definitely don't want any Ethanol near your gasoline!

The NICO ECU is available. A TCU mod would be interesting, but I believe the chip Stillen used in the past is no longer available.

Careful with E85 as the fuel flow will have to increase 30% to maintain A/F and likely that injectors will swell and fail fast from broken internal connection.................but other than those caveats.

Can you pass California emissions with a change in A/F [leaner] at cruise..........Nox will go thru roof.

Thanks guys for the info, and I also changed the guides and installed a external trans cooler, the car runs great, I know someone mentioned E-mance I installed the chip but my car is not running to great with it installed, I will have to give E-mance a call to find out whats going on because I have it installed correctly but there may have been something I missed, and thanks again.

No one here knows anything about Emance, so post up the specs when you can.

But be very wary if your engine is not running perfectly!
