91 hatch ac removal

had my 91 hatch for about a year. i blew the engine about four months ago. installing a new..er ka. i wanna remove the ac because it doe not work. i heard it reduces about 50 lbs but is there any horsepower gain? would removing the ac cause any probs

No problems and honestly you can do a lot of simplification on the wiring harness if you do so. But when I did the sr I got rid of my A/C and I wish I kept it. SO SO bad. Just my input man.

totoal, if you remove everything, you will getmabe a 30 pound difference, mainly the compressor is the heavy bastard. everything else is pretty light.if you go through the harness and eliminate all the wiring, youll get rid of like 4/5 plugs, not excactly what i call worth it.no there is no performance, agaion NO PERFORMANCE increase. when the ac isnt on, its just a free spinning pulley. mabe a .0015 horsepower draw.honestly, its much more worth it to convert it to r134 and fix the system, unless its a full blown track car
