What are the differences between the 91-93 KA and the 95-98 KA. Doesnt the 95-98 have a higher compression and variable valve timing. While the 91-93 has a lower compression and no vvt.

No KA motors had variable valve timing...ever.

And like I posted in that other thread:

All KA24DE motors from a 240SX have the same compression, 9.5:1 Although you may have read in your "Chiltons" or online that the S13 motors are 9.2, they ARE NOT.

Big difference are:

'91-93 had better cams (240/248 vs 232/232 for S14)

'91-93 intake manifolds had secondary butterflies

Front cover/valve cover are slightly different

Head, valves, pistons, crank, rods, etc...all the same.

Oh...and S13 had external dist coil, S14 is internal coil.

...and No AIV on S14s.

as far as i heard the S14 had a better ecu tune than the S13's, thats why those have smaller cams but same or 5hp over.

Hey Brian thanks for taking the time to answer my question. I also have another question. I would like to remove my PS and maybe my AC. I have a 93 240sx. How would I go about doing this. It looks like I can not remove it because where would I adjust the tension for the water pump and crank pullys.

A/C is easy...it has it's own belt. Just cut it off and then remove the compressor, etc...

PS is not as easy...you could find a belt that was *just* short enought to fit over the water pump pulley, or make a tensioner that would fit where the PS pump used to be.

wouldn't that like make the water pump run faster than normal and maybe cause some sort of bad thing though? havin just the pump and the crank runnin without a tensioner of some sort?

It shouldn't...

The speed is determined by 2 pulleys...the crank and the water pump pulley.

You can route the belt over another pulley of a different size, but that does not change the speed at which the crank pulley is turning.

So crank pulley size and speed + water pump pulley size = speed of the water pump...no matter how many other pulleys the same belt turns.

I don't think I've EVER seen a 240SX without pawer steering.

But apparently they make S14's with roll-up (non-power) windows...and I've never seen that in person either, so...??? FWIW...
