^I SEARCHED and found this post, kinda hoping to see how much of a pain it is to remove the bumper and it seems to be a biotch. Oh well just looking for some insight on it, or maybe an easy way to remove it. Anyway I'm off to try and remove it, wish me luck!

It isn't fun, but I got mine done in about an hour and a half without prior experience. There's no particular order to do these steps in, other than 1) before 2).

1) Take off fender liners. On the left side you'll see your ugly air box, on the right the washer fluid resevoir. Both will end up getting in your way.

2) There are 5 bolts per side you access from inside the fenderwell. They're -deep- in, and you WILL need an extension to reach some of them.

3) There are 3 or so bolts you can access from the top of the bumper. These are easy, but you might want to leave them for last because once everything's really loose they're the only thing that will stop the bumper from flopping forward.

4) There are another 3-5 bolts you have to access either through the opening in the front of the bumper or from underneath. They go through a steel retaining strip that falls loose when you take the bolts out.

5) Unclip the plugs for the little lights in the bumper. Forgetting this will leave you holding up the bumper with one hand while you struggle to unclip them with the other hand. You'll eventually get frustrated and smash the plastic clips, assuring yourself that later on you'll just buy a DRFT bumper and replace that crap anyway. Don't ask how I know this.

Once you have everything unbolted the bumper won't fall off; its supported in place by retaining pins that alternated with the fenderwell bolts. Just pull on alternating sides. If something doesn't budge, figure out what bolt you missed.

My dad showed up completely unanounced with some of his old rachets to give me, and the extensions ended up saving my ***. If you don't have a 5 inch extension, now is the time to buy one. Seriously, you'll save yourself a pint of blood and most of a day, if you can get it off at all without an extension. Finally, if you find a bolt that won't budge, spray it with a ton of lubricant and move on to the next; it'll be much easier when you get back to it.

Hope this helps...

Yeah got it off thanks guys, although I didnt read the thread untill now. Wish I had, might have saved me 20 min or so. Also Jon (slw240sx) I didnt get a chance to check the pistons because the city has given me a deadline to get stuff cleared and the car registered or moved so im just gonna get the motor in the car for now and call it a day until i get her registered. And, you were right about the downpipe and wastegate getting in the way but I think If I remove the downpipe it will fit (put it back on later). Anyways hopefully the next time I post some pics it will be of the motor in the car.
