Please someone help me. I got a 1991 300zx 2+2 with the jdm twin turbo swap. Piston 2 is not firing. I tested the coil and plug and it works fine. I changed the Ignition control module (transister box) and nothing. Im just getting one spark when you first start it. Its getting gas I do know that. I followed the wire back to the ecu from the transister box and turned out to be a connection there and no break in the wire. I checked the computer codes and only thing came up was 55 which means no malfunction. I was told the pickup would only be bad on that point and would keep the fuel injector from working.. but Im getting gas and that Im sure of. Why am I only getting one spark to the piston 2 plug when you first turn the motor over. Could it be my ecu not working properly. If anyone has a idea please let me know.. cause buying a ecu isnt a cheap guess and hope it fixes my problem. The guy who did the motor swap told me that the computer thats in it now is made for a auto transmission.. and said it would matter. PLEASE someone help me here..

well, have you considered that the coil pack could be bad? try moving that coil pack to a differeent cylinder and see if the misfiore moves, could also be an injector issue

"I tested the coil and plug and it works fine."

I tested the coil pack, fuel injector, spark plug.. and transister box. And even checked the wiring. Could a computer cause this? Like a diode bad in the box?

Yes the plug has gas on it. Gas is going into that cylinder. No doubt.

So you only get a spark on the first round of ignition then not again?

Sounds like it could be an ecu problem or a coil. I would change the coil pack to another cylinder and see if IT stops firing, even if the coil 'tests' as good while doing a simple multimeter test, in reality it may be no good.

Sry I didnt test it with a meter. I just pulled the coil out and switch wires. Then it sparked. I took the other coil and plugged into piston 2 and just one spark. So you think it could be the ecu. COOL. But now I got more problems. This morning I blew the head gasket on the passenger side. So I will be rebuilding the top of the motor.. then back to changing the ecu. EVEN thinking about getting a new wiring for it. BUT if anyone else knows if it could be the ecu let me know. Im wondering if it could be the wiring. Even though it has a connection through testing ohms.. voltage could be breaking it on startup

Personally I don't think it's the ECU. Have you pulled the connectors on the CAS and especially the PTU...all of them to make sure there is ABSOLUTLEY no corrosion? The "firing once" to me indicates a poor connection.***You engine doesn't by chance still have the first version of the recalled PTU does it (silver colored)? They were quite often defective and short lived.
