Ok so i have a 91 240sx with 112,000 on the ka24de.It was running before the winter but the last time i drove it before i put it away i went to restart it and it made the starting noise like the battery noise as if it were getting weaker and nothing worked in the car so i figured dead battery ill replace it when spring comes around.

So i replaced it and everthing in the car works fine. But when i turn the ignition the motor doesnt do anything no noise nothing. I rolled down a hill and popped the clutch and it started right up and idled perfect but it didnt restart same problem.

So i replaced both battery terminals(one was junk anyway)and starter all wires are good i tested them.still nothing =( HELP!!!!!!!

Give the starter a tap with a hammer or heavy ratchet. If it starts, there's your problem.

The starter is new, too? You didn't mention that in the original post. And, no. It won't mess it up.

Forget the neutral safety switch. It has nothing to do with starter. unplug the connector at the starter. it is the black with yellow stripe wire. put the car in neutral. connect the black/yellow wire directly to postive terminal of battery for few seconds. This should start your car. If your car starts, than you know your problem has to do with the clutch interlock switch or relay, wiring, or ignition switch. If your car does not start, than you have to look at the big wire that goes to positive terminal of battery. Make sure the battery cables are tight! You also have to look at the starter ground. I think you can connect wire from engine chasis to starter casing to see if ground is the problem. If your starter is making noise, it is also possible that the arm that connects starter to engine is bent.

Dont overlook that your new battery or starter might not be working. Jump start car to check new battery.

make sure all your grounds are good, most electrical concerns are bad grounds. Pull the starter, sand it and the block and bolt it back up. check all ground straps.

To clarify, the starter's body is grounded to the engine chasis where the starter comes in contact with engine. When people say check the grounds in this case, they mean the contact between starter and engine. Also, they mean check that engine is grounded properly to negative of battery. There are several ground wires on the engine chasis to check.
