91 240sx speedo, odo, dash lights inop on start, but comes on after 30mins or so

91 240sx KA24de speedo, odo, dash lights inop on start, no matter how long it sits. after it runs for 30 or so it comes on and operates normally. I believe it is a dead short, Any ideas?? btw sorry if this is a repeat post!

If it were a dead short I would not think it would ever work. Trace the wiring?

person i got it from had installed a crap radio, alarm, power antenna, etc. (poorly i might add) so i began by removing all excess junk from harness. it is a nightmare down there. i may just get a new harness im not sure where to start tracing from, the HUD (heads up display) comes on right away during warm weather..... and when the dash lights come on it makes the POS radio and the dash flicker like theres a power drain or bare wire some-where.
