Hiya there. A proud new owner of my very first Nissan, a 1991 240SX hatchback.

I bought the car from a guy who was preparing it for a SR20 swap, but didn't finish it, so the transmission/engine/harness/rear diff/driveshaft is all disconnected.

Now I'm not the best mechanic, but I'm a very mechanically inclined person, but not being the person who took everything apart is really throwing me off... as I really don't know where to start.

The engine (KA24DE) has 90k miles on it, and I'd like to rebuild it and turbo it, but getting the car back together is my first priority.

Where should I start? There is a pressure plate/clutch, so I guess I should hook up the transmission? But I don't even know if I hook up transmission and drop it in with the engine, or they go in seperately(I'm used to my ****ty FF eclipse).

The car is basically complete except for an Instrument Cluster and power steering lines. The lines are kind of expensive, and I'm not sure if the rack is there or not...

I have a shop manual (on CD) on the way, but will that really have the "How to put car back together" part?

Anyways, I appreciate any positive replies.

its a billion times easier assembling the motor outside of the car. you can put the transmission and engine together and drop it in the car at the right angle.

im sure the rack is there. look at the crossmember of the car and look for the tie rod boots. kind of a dead giveaway.
