See if your oil is milky. If so, you definitely blew a headgasket.bboyblack wrote:I bought myself a 91 240sx (ka24de) from a guy about 3-4 weeks ago. I drove it home and the alternator belt broke on the way home. Had it towed home. Next the clutch went out and i replaced the master and slave cylinder and it shifts great.
But my next problem is an overheating issue. Ill be driving for about 15 mins and the heat gauge will be at H. when i first start driving it i filled the overflow with water. and by 15 minutes itll be gone. no water underneath the car or any signs of leaks. so i took it down to a shop and had it pressure tested. they said you got a leak in your water pump and thermostat. yesterday i spent all day replacing those with new ones. drove it around and now instead of using all the water from my overflow its taking all the fluid in the radiator and putting it in the overflow . today i bled all the air out and it ran fine for about 20 minutes. still overheating!!! idk what else to look for. ive been told the headgasket might be leaking.
any help would be greatly appreciated!

i took my car into a shop before i looked at that yesterday. if they dont look at that ill look for it.PEANUT21 wrote:I had the same problem with mine and did everything that you did and finally took the head to see if that was the problem with the gasket, and it ended up being that the head was warped.
whatd it cost for repair and new parts?Morph wrote:I ran into a problem like this as well. I've had the car for 5+ years and one day temp started rising. Thought i was low on fluid so i refilled and still overheating. I did the same as some of you, Changed the T-stat, bled using the screw and left the rad cap off to catch any hiding bubbles. When i looked closely in the radiaitor i could see a small stream of back dots. Next day i got a compression test kit and sure enough blown headgasket.
