hi Guys, just had a couple question that I though you guys could help me clear up!

I have a 91 nissan 240sx dohc non turbo. My plan is to buy a t3-t4 turbo, manifold, blow off valve kit, manual boost controller, intercooler, and ECU piggy backer, exhaust and body kit.

I was wondering if all turbos have waterline antifreeze cooling , or some just oil and some both.

Do I have to change my head gasket, or can I just run the stock one.

Is it hard to adapt a piggy backer to my ECU, and do I have to upgrade my injectors...?

Are those oil pressure regulators for the turbos a good idea?

I don't wanna do an engine swap, just create a little boost, maybe 10psi on stock internals.

Anyone done this before?

All input is appreciated, thanks!

i don't want you to get the wrong idea when i say this, i'm not trying to be a d1ck, i'm just saying it because others will tell you the same, use the search button.there is tons of info on that in the ka-t forum zeroforum?id=170

but i feel i need to at least give you my opinion on some of this stuff.you will most likely need to upgrade your injectors.it is recommended that you use a cometic headgasket but if you are going to run low boost, it may not be necessary.if you are going to run a watercooled turbo, i would hook up the water lines to it.a watercooled turbo generally last longer due to less heat soak in the bearing housing when you shut down the engine and helps reduce oil coking.installing a piggyback computer is not that difficult if you know how to wire things. emanage ultimate is much more difficult to wire than say an safc.people have boosted over 10psi on a stock ka but it's not recommended that you boost over 8psi to keep it reliable.and definately install an oil restrictor on the turbo.

its ok , i was on a different board and there wasnt enough info, and i couldn't post any threads, not sure if it was my computer or what. I'm just curious...putting on a new head gasket sounds like a pain in the ***...is it difficult to deal with all those stinkin' valves when your done?

I'm a huge 2 stoke mechanic. More into the marine applications where 100+mph strokers are my specialty not used to 4 strokes.

thanks for the patience

the difficulty in changing the headgasket depends on your mechanical savy, but generally it's not an easy job.if you are running no more than 8psi, in my opinion, the stock one should hold up fine. here is a sticky on the ka-t forum that has a lot of good information to get you started.zerothread?id=99647

I'd like to boost 10psi on stock internals, maybe I'll replace the head gasket, shouldn't be too much of a challenge. Thanks for the links, it seems in my application i should run a t25/28 turbo , just locating a 1500$ turbo kit is a challenge, hardly any searches come up, except for http://www.alibaba.com for a kit right from china and you have to join the site blah blah blah. This is my simple plan:

Turbo Manifold Blow Off Valve Small Intercooler (potentially get away with a side mount) Turbo T25/T28/14B, etc. Smaller T2 setups. Usually will be internally wastegated. Downpipe 2.5" is perfectly fine Replacing the Exhaust is starting to be very necessary at this stage, so I would start to shop for that as well.

Fuel Control SR 370cc Injectors Apexi SAFC2 Greddy Emanage Back off base timing at distributor or MSD BTM

I think this should cost 1500-2000$ right in my range for a little fun boost, and I was thinking about adding that nx nitrous intercooler kit, cools the intercool air for 50+hp on a honda set up , not sure if I need to worry about fuel / air ratio since it's just cooling the air, no nitrous right in the engine? would be cool to say i have nos in the car too

Get a set of sr 370cc, a walboro fuel pump, Then try to get a revhard mani.If you want to go real cheap and take a gamble then go with ssautochrome. Heard ssautochrome has a decent intercooler piping kit.As weel as their intercooler ain't half bad. Get a good turbo.whether it be used or brand new. Your lookign to spend close to 3500 by the time your done. I bought IAp's kit and added another 2500 into it to make things right.SAFC,wideband, rps turbo clutch, and then little things.
