91 240sx life expectancy

I have a 91 240sx se with 176K miles. It has been in my family for about 5 years with about 124K miles. Everything has been well maintain and about 85% of the miles are highway. I'm trying to figure out how long it will hold out.

Any thoughts?

Every motor has a different life expectancy. It all depends on how well maintained and well kept the motor has been. Some people on here have well over 200,000+ miles. You can do a compression test on the motor and see.

^ Definitely this. Change oil/filter every 3k miles. KA24's last a looooooooong time if they are properly maintenanced.

After 200k any engine will most likely need valve seals, worn shims, rod/main bearings sooner or later. Usually first to go but if you don't drive like a maniac, they will last longer. The 91 ka (blueprinted?) is the best engine to have. My buddy drove for 290k before replacing rod bearings. Took them out only 2 were bad the others were almost perfect.

Original motor in my car made it to 280,xxx miles before headgasket blew and warped the head. Then I got it, body was still good no rust feels solid and interior perfect uncracked dash and normal driver seat rip. It was taken care of very well.

My 91 has 230k miles on it and still going strong

both my 92 & 93 twin cams have upwards of 215k and they run strong as hell. i beat the s*** out of them and they keep takin it. waiting til one blows (un-intentionally) so i can get a new motor but havent had any luck yet
